1 Braeside Cottage is situated in the small upper Weardale village of Cowshill. For those who like the outdoors this is the perfect base to explore Country Durham and the areas beyond, with numerous walks and the Weardale Adventure Centre located just a few miles down the road. It is the perfect location for couples, small groups or families looking to get away and enjoy some time in the outdoors or just relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Downstairs there is a cosy lounge centered aroud the log burning stove and features beautiful tiled floors. With a two and three seater sofas, there is plenty of room to snuggle up around the fire on an evening. 

The modern kitchen diner is well equipped to cook hearty meals after a busy day exploring all that the area has to offer.

Upstairs there is a family bathroom with shower over bath and 2 good sized bedrooms, 1 double and 1 twin, the double giving plenty of wardrobe storage.

There is a delightful walled garden to the front of the property to enjoy the views of the stunning countryside.

There is a garage at the property ideal for storing bicycles or motorcycles.

Pets are welcome to stay at the cottage by prior arrangement

Local information

1 Braeside Cottage is located in Cowshill in upper Weardale although in Country Durham the location is close to the borders of Cumbria and Northumberland making this an ideal base to get out and explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You can begin many walks or cycle routes from the doorstep. A couple of minutes walk from the cottage is the Cowshill Hotel an old fashioned public house with a restaurant serving traditional home cooked food well worth a visit, however booking is essential.

The village of St Johns Chapel is a 10 minute drive down the dale where you can source your daily amenities from the village co-op, there is also a post office with tea room, a café and 2 pubs one of which serves food. The North of England Lead Mining Museum at Killhope is a five minute drive from the cottage well worth a visit giving you an insight into the lead mining era with underground tours.
