Local Information
The Boat House, Slaggyford is located in the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, surrounded by the rolling countryside.
Alston is approximately 5 miles from Slaggyford and is the highest market town in the UK, boasting many small independent businesses, eateries and shops. The South Tyndale trail runs through Slaggyford and the section for Slaggyford to Alston has been restored back into a railway line where you can catch the steam train to take in the amazing views. In the opposite direct the trail runs all the way to Haltwhistle via Lambley Viaduct and by the real ale pub the Wallace Arms at Featherstone.
The River Tyne which flows through Slaggyford is very well now for its trout and salmon fishing, so if you are coming to the area and wish to fish, contact Alston Angling for passes.
