Low Chesters House is a beautiful stone cottage located in the upper Weardale hills with good amenities in the immediate area. For those who like the outdoors this is the perfect base to explore Country Durham and the areas beyond, with numerous walks right from the property and an outdoor activity centre located a few miles down the road. It is the perfect location for small groups or families looking to get away and enjoys sometime in the outdoors or just relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Downstairs there is a traditional living room centred around a multifuel stove. The room features a beautiful exposed stone wall and wooden beams. The cottage has solid fuel heating so all fuel for the fire will be provided and the fire will be lit on your arrival. The living room leads through into a large kitchen diner which has a traditional dresser, is well equipped to cook and has a large table and chairs where you can sit, eat and entertain. The kitchen overlooks the beautiful garden, which is fully enclosed, made up of a decked area with seating which is covered*, a lawned area and also a gravelled section for parking which will fit 3 cars. This is a beautiful garden to relax in if you have come away to leave the hustle and bustle of normal life behind.
Upstairs there is a modern family bathroom with bath and shower and 2 good sized bedrooms 1 twin and 1 double.

There is off road parking for 3 cars to the rear of the property and street parking to the front of the property.

Pets welcome with prior notification - dog bowls, blankets, towels, spare lead, poo bags provided (there is also a hosepipe in the garden)

*due to the area, we get a lot of strong winds. Therefore, during the winter months the outdoor covering will be taken down to prevent damage. If you would like to use the cover it is stored under the stairs within the property.
Local Information
Low Chesters House is located in St John’s Chapel, Weardale. Although in Country Durham the location is close to the borders of Cumbria and Northumberland making this an ideal base to get out and explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Within walking distance of the cottage there are 2 pubs, one of which serves food, a post office with tea room, a café and Co-op, making it ideally placed for those who need to use public transport or want to stay local to St John's Chapel. Local buses in the area are operated by Weardale travel.
For those who want to embrace the outdoors, you can begin many walks or cycle routes from the doorstep and the Weardale Activity Centre is a 2 minute car journey or a 10 minute walk from the cottage. The North of England Lead Mining Museum at Killhope is a five minute drive from the cottage, and is worth a visit giving you an insight into the lead mining era with underground tours.
