Harthopeburn Cottage is situated in a pretty upper Weardale village of St Johns Chapel with good amenities. This quirky cottage has been lovingly furnished, and with stunning views over the rolling countryside from the house. It is ideal for couples, families or small groups.
This charming cottage really does feel like a home from home. The kitchen are is slight but well equipped for your culinary needs. The dining table seat 4, with a window seat next to it.

The living room has plenty of seating for all around the log burning stove, an ideal are to snuggle up to rest after a busy day walking and exploring all the area has to offer. There is a small selection of books and DVD's to enjoy.

Upstairs are two relaxing bedrooms, one with 2 generous sized beds and the other 1 double bed, comfortably sleeping 4. The family bathroom has a shower over roll top bath, finished with natural style tiles. Please note, the bath is not to be used.

There is off road parking for two cars on the opposite side of the road up the hill. There is a Harthopeburn Cottage sign and a Pennine Ways Holiday Cottage sign on the wall next to this parking area.

Harthopeburn Cottage is located in St John’s Chapel, Weardale. Although in Country Durham the location is close to the borders of Cumbria and Northumberland making this an ideal base to get out and explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Within walking distance of the cottage there are 2 pubs, one of which serves food, a café and Co-op, making it ideally placed for those who need to use public transport or want to stay local to St Johns Chapel. Local buses in the area are operated by Weardale travel.
For those who want to embrace the outdoors, you can begin many walks or cycle routes from the doorstep and the Weardale Activity Centre is a 2 minute car journey or a 10 minute walk from the cottage. The North of England Lead Mining Museum at Killhope is a five minute drive from the cottage, and is worth a visit giving you an insight into the lead mining era with underground tours.
